COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Florida State at Miami

Quick post for Labor Day. Hope everyone has a great holiday. Make the most of those outdoor family activities. Whether it's a cookout, day at the beach, some fishing, or getting together with friends, you never can have enough of these moments in life. But at the end of the day, I certainly won't be alone (especially here in Florida) in stopping to check out a great football game that matches two fun rivals.

Florida State and Miami are, as always, very evenly matched. And there are few better rivalries in college football than this one which pits the team of the 1990s against the team of the 1980s. Look for some good offense from FSU QB Drew Weatherford and his counterpart for the Hurricanes, Kyle Wright. Both enter their 2nd year as starters and look like future Heisman contenders. But you also know you'll get great defense from these schools that have produced defensive studs like Derrick Brooks, Deion Sanders, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Warren Sapp over the years. The game could very well come down to special teams - including a feared Florida State field goal!

My pick: Florida State. Though I'm a Gators fan, I root for all the Florida teams. And the Noles are 2nd in the pecking order. So here's to seeing lots of Tomahawk Chops tonight in the Orange Bowl. But I expect a rematch of these two teams in December up in Jacksonville to crown an ACC champ.

Here are the Miami Hurricane cheerleaders, the Sunsations. As you would expect, these girls of South Florida are absolutely sun-sational!
